- From Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 16, save money on items you need for Back-to-School supplies, clothing, and more.
- How It Works
- This is not a full sales tax holiday.
- Illinois is only reducing the state portion of the sales tax:
- State sales tax drops from 6.25% to 1.25%.
- Note that local sales taxes still apply.
- Eligible Qualifying Items
- Clothing and footwear priced under $125 per item
- School supplies used by students (these are not subject to the $125 limit)

- Jeans
- Shoes
- School uniforms
- Backpacks (qualifying school use)
- Notebooks
- Pens
- Calculators
- Art supplies used for school
- Not Eligible
- Generally excludes:
- Jewelry
- Handbags
- Sports and recreational equipment
