• From Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 16, save money on items you need for Back-to-School supplies, clothing, and more.
• How It Works
  • This is not a full sales tax holiday.
  • Illinois is only reducing the state portion of the sales tax:
  • State sales tax drops from 6.25% to 1.25%.
  • Note that local sales taxes still apply.
• Eligible Qualifying Items
  • Clothing and footwear priced under $125 per item
  • School supplies used by students (these are not subject to the $125 limit)

  • Shoes
  • School uniforms
  • Backpacks (qualifying school use)
  • Notebooks
  • Pens
  • Calculators
  • Art supplies used for school
• Not Eligible
  • Generally excludes:
  • Jewelry

  • Clothing items priced $125 or more each
